Are you a left-hander? Then you must read this. Are you a right-hander? You, too, must read this. 😉

Your infant may begin scribbling around the age of 15 months, and this is the earliest step in determining whether they are right or left-handed.

When holding their spoon, pencil, or even their bottle, some newborns prefer to use their left hand. On the other hand, some parents would instantly seek advice to “fix” the problem.

For some people, being “left-handed” seems to be a problem.

Left-handed persons may be regarded differently in a world dominated by right-handed people simply because the majority is right-handed. Yet did you know there are many advantages to being left-handed?

First, are you aware that our brains are cross weird? This means our left hand is controlled by the right brain and our right hand by the left brain. This brings up that left-handed personalities are talented in 3D perception, music attention, wisdom, imagination, and creativity.

So if you know that left-handed people are showing talents in one of the above fields, it’s really normal. For example, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Bob Dylan, Pablo Picasso, Bill Gates, Nicole Kidman, and Angelina Jolie are all prominent left-handed personalities.

Did you know that lefties also make great players at baseball? What a fair surprise. But it is not the only sport. They are also good at swimming, tennis, fencing, and not boxing.

Manny Pacquiao is a world-famous left-hander. He is the world-seventh best active boxer. He is also the world’s third-best active welterweight by the different boxing institutions like ESPN, TBRB, The Ring, and BoxRec.

Are you impressed now? If not, let me tell you some more facts. Studies conducted by the American Journal of Psychology show that lefties are better at approaching a problem differently or simply out-of-the-box thinking.

James A. Garfield, Herbert Hoover, Harry S. Truman, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama – as all we know are people who were at the highest place in the US. And the interesting fact is that all 8 of the former presidents are left-handed. If you don’t trust me, just google it.

Do you know that left-handed people are good at handling different tasks simultaneously? A study done by the Illinois Research Consortium in 2008 has proved that lefties have good control over their memory and performing tasks, which helps them be better at multitasking.

Right-handed folks now break difficulties down into smaller components and tackle them one at a time. Left-handed people examine the problem as a whole before attempting to solve it.

Finally, did you know that the 13th of August is International Left-Handed Day?

Being left-handed is something to be proud of and appreciate. You’re not the only one, and if you realize how wonderful it is to be left-handed, you could even be capable of motivating others!
