Jimmy Carter’s family has released a new announcement one year after he entered hospice care.

Jimmy’s grandson revealed the news during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, only three months following the death of his wife Rosalyn in November.

Jason Carter mentioned in a video on Sunday Morning that even though we don’t have any expectations for his body after a year in hospice, his spirit remains as strong as ever.

Carter’s foundation also shared similar thoughts in a second statement issued on the same day.

President Carter has been at home with his family for a whole year since entering hospice care. The Carter Family is truly thankful for all the love and support they have received, and they greatly appreciate everyone respecting their privacy during this period. It brings them joy to know that President Carter’s decision to enter hospice care has sparked meaningful conversations among families across the nation.

Even though Carter had been receiving end-of-life care for the past year, he managed to be present at his wife’s funeral.

Carter’s appearance at the service brought tears to the eyes of many. He chose to wear a special blanket that symbolized the deep love and enduring marriage between him and Rosalyn. The blanket, adorned in black and white, featured a beautiful portrait of Rosalynn and himself, along with the heartfelt words “The Carters” and “Est. 1885” embroidered on it. This touching gesture paid tribute to their hometown, Plains, Georgia, where their love story began in their childhood years.
