Angelica was born on May 6, 2018, and she was incredibly beautiful with her cute button nose, stunning eyes, and a heart-shaped port wine stain on her face.

Marianna Bowering, Angelica’s mother, mentioned that although most of their friends and family are supportive of Angelica’s birthmark, there are still a few individuals who feel the need to make remarks about her daughter’s looks.

Bowering shared that the most hurtful comment she received online was when someone compared her face to being grilled on a skillet.

Regrettably, the first time I tried this makeup style to resemble Angelica’s beauty, she was already asleep for the night. Today…

Marianna shared that her daughter had to endure hurtful comments, being called “ugly” and a “flaw”. The unkindness and lack of empathy in those words made the difficulties this family experienced even harder. However, their strength and resolve to conquer these hurdles eventually resulted in an incredible change.

Despite the mean remarks, Bowering is making every effort to ensure that Angelica grows up understanding that she is beautiful just as she is.

The young mother, who is 27 years old, recently chose to apply makeup and recreate her 5-year-old daughter’s birthmark on her own face.

Bowering mentioned that she got the inspiration from vascular birthmark awareness day, which promotes painting a heart on the cheeks. At first, she only painted a heart as part of her makeup, but then she decided to take it a step further and recreate Angelica’s port wine stain.

I tried to match my daughter’s beauty by doing my makeup just like hers! But she’s still the prettiest…

Marianna felt devastated when certain individuals mentioned that her daughter’s facial spots would eventually disappear, while others proposed that Angelica could easily cover them up with makeup if she wanted to.

The mother’s pain and frustration were further intensified by these comments, leaving her wondering why her daughter had to conceal her innate beauty instead of celebrating it.

Seeing that moment was a poignant reflection of the challenges people encounter when they don’t fit society’s beauty norms. However, it also highlighted the significance of embracing and showing love to everyone, no matter how they look.

From the start, both Bowering and her spouse never considered their daughter’s birthmark as something to be ashamed of. Instead, they actively strive to ensure that they recognize it as something worthy of celebration.

Bowering adorned Angelica’s port wine stain with glitter to make it sparkle, before they found their matching birthmark.

It was mentioned by Bowering to TODAY that Angelica, despite having a port wine stain on her face, is healthy and not at risk for developing other health conditions.

“Thankfully, we’ve done tests and Angelica is totally healthy,” Bowering said. “We just need to have regular check-ups, especially for her eyes as glaucoma can be a concern.”

Angelica, you’re absolutely beautiful. Don’t let anyone ever tell you anything different.

Marianna, thank you for being an amazing mama and continuously showing your daughter there’s nothing wrong with her birthmark.
