“I am very sure of my sexuality. What I have sought is to give the love and protection that a mother can give her children, ”she said.
For him, the only viable option was to change his gender before the Civil Registry to legally become a woman and thus have a point in favor before the judge.
Beyond considering herself a woman or making her change to promote sexual or gender diversity, René did it to be taken with more relevance when assigning guardianship of her daughters, according to the local newspaper El Universo.

In the town of Azuay, Ecuador where the family is from, the news quickly became known, since there are not many precedents for something similar.
Finally, and although it is hard to understand, René affirms and assures that he is sure of his sexual orientation, even though his record says otherwise.
“The law is taking away our right to be parents. It is a proof of love. Now I am also a mother. That’s how I consider myself. I am very sure of my sexuality. What I have sought is to give the love and protection that a mother can give her children, ”she stated in La Voz del Tomebamba.

According to what was shared, René could not see her firstborn for more than a year, while she did not see the second for safety, causing both of them to have to stay with their mother.
