“AI creates pictures showing how cartoon characters might appear in real life.”

“What might well-known animated characters from movies and TV shows appear like if they were real? A talented digital artist has crafted an intriguing collection of AI-assisted ‘portraits’ that offer solutions to this inquiry.”

“Hidreley Leli Diao is a Brazilian artist who has a passion for digital art. When he found out that artificial intelligence software can generate lifelike images of fictional people, he started to explore creative possibilities with this technology.”

“Ever since I came across artificial intelligence, I’ve been pushing myself to attempt things I wouldn’t have thought possible,” Diao shares with PetaPixel. “After numerous experiments and plenty of practice, I felt it was the right moment to transform some Disney characters into realistic human forms.”

“Diao mentions that he had a childhood filled with watching The Simpsons, Hanna Barbera shows, and Disney cartoons that greatly influenced him. Thanks to cutting-edge AI photo software, Diao managed to produce realistic portraits of several beloved characters from his favorite animations.”

Jasmine from Aladdin

Ned Flanders from The Simpsons

“When we watch certain animations, we easily embrace the exaggerated proportions of the characters because we’re accustomed to this artistic style,” Diao explains in his contribution to Bored Panda. “However, what if, as if by magic, they were transformed into real, living beings? I attempted to bridge the gap between their world and ours using artificial intelligence.”

Mulan

“Diao utilized Photoshop along with three different mobile AI photo editing apps, namely FaceApp, Gradient, and Remini, to craft these ‘photos.'”

“Every portrait was crafted by searching the internet for images that had facial features resembling the characters.”

“I search for pictures in image databases and begin the process by superimposing them, starting from the eyes,” Diao explains. “The most challenging aspect is locating an image that closely matches the character I’m currently working on.”
