A Thai woman humorously contrasts reality with Instagram in her candid and amusing series.

Recall the last time you scrolled through your Instagram feed and felt that life was unfair? Examining flawless Instagram shots can significantly impact your self-esteem, yet it’s crucial to remember that none of it is genuine. Influencers dedicate extensive time sometimes jokingly exaggerated like 40 hours a day to set up, capture countless shots, and edit the photos until they present something to share with their followers.

However, a Thai model recognizes that there’s an entirely different reality behind every seemingly perfect Instagram shot, and she’s unafraid to reveal it. Vienadoll has been creating amusing “Instagram vs. Reality” collages for some time now, as featured in a previous Bored Panda article, and her 178k followers can’t seem to get enough of it.

As it happens, for her polished photos, Vienna employs software that refines the image by enhancing her eyes, nose, and mouth. In contrast, the reality shots were captured with a basic camera and without any photo editing. The outcome is something you have to witness, but it undeniably shatters the illusion of “perfection” like a bursting balloon.

We contacted Vienna, the fashion model and social media influencer from Thailand, who mentioned that her Instagram vs. Reality photo series has indeed brought her significant media attention. “I got more work and was invited to appear on television about my Instagram vs. reality post on Twitter,” she shared.

Vienna’s journey into modeling began when she caught the attention of an agent from a modeling agency. After taking a photo with another girl who shared it on social media, the girl’s agent reached out to Vienna and extended an invitation for her to explore modeling.

When Vienna was scouted, she only had 10k followers, but her Twitter audience experienced exponential growth over time. The Thai influencer shared that her following continued to rapidly expand, and now she boasts a substantial 781.4k followers on Twitter and 178k followers on Instagram.

When questioned about whether her audience is still growing, she affirmed that it is, although “not as much as it did before.” Vienna attributes this slowdown to her reduced focus on Instagram vs. Reality photos. Currently, she is more engaged in developing content for her YouTube channel and sharing photos from her daily life on Instagram.
