A couple who met when they were toddlers and have known each other for 82 years celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

He always knew that she was the person he wanted to marry.

Joel and Carolyn LaPray have an amazing love story, and they are really devoted to each other, which is really inspiring.

The couple has been married for 64 years and have been friends for even longer, having known each other for 82 years.

Few people can say they’ve been friends with their spouse since they were born.

They first encountered each other when they were very young in Idaho in the 1940s, living close by as neighbors, with their families being close friends.

Joel and Carolyn’s romantic tale.

Joel and Carolyn met when they were both toddlers, just before the US joined World War II.

Both families had to move away from their homes during the war, but Joel and Carolyn got back in touch when their families moved to Utah when they were teenagers.

When they were in 10th grade, Joel asked Carolyn to the military ball, but she wasn’t sure how she felt about him – even though he seemed certain he’d marry her one day.

As it happened, Joel was correct.

As they got closer in their last year of high school, they fell in love and when they finished school they were a couple, ready to start an amazing life together.

Creating a life and starting a family!

The following year, they both enrolled at Utah State University. After just one year of college, they decided to tie the knot.

Their love story is wonderful and, after 64 years, they are still faithfully devoted to each other.

They have been together for a long time and now have 6 children, 25 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.

A huge family!

Joel said they have so many grandchildren that he’s stopped counting.

When Joel was asked what the key to his 64 years of marriage was, he answered right away that it was all about compromising.

We all have different opinions, so we come to an agreement by compromising and doing it her way.

Carolyn suggests that if the wife is happy, life will be happy too!

Joel knows that when his mom is happy, everyone is happy, and he does his best to show Carolyn how much he loves her.
